The short answer

The G23 Convertible post-LCI inherits the G22 coupe's facelift (laser taillights, the M440i's black grille surround with horizontal bars, iDrive OS 8.5, the revised B58 at 386 hp and 398 lb-ft) and adds the convertible note: heavier, less rigid, more cruiser focused than the coupe.

Each part is scored from 0 to 100 on a fixed outside scale. Acclaim comes from published expert lists, launch reviews and awards; the more acclaimed a car, the less its ownership cost counts in this all-time score (its dollars below are unchanged). A part marked not measured carries no weight for this car, and the others share its weight.

Long-term value, shown and not scored

No permitted price yet: we have not found three prices for this car from sources that allow this use.

Long-term value starts to count in the score once 75% of the 69 generations have permitted prices. Today 43 do.

The cost to own

About $2,048 a year to own ($1,401 to $3,232), about $9,041 over five years, bought at five years old or its own age if older, kept five years.

  1. Oil filter housing and valve cover gasket leaks: about $413 over five years, common (source)
  2. High pressure fuel pump: about $104 over five years, possible (source)
  3. Coolant loss / expansion tank (B58): about $85 over five years, possible (source)

Expect about $1,400 to $3,200 a year; the bills that decide it are oil filter housing and valve cover gasket leaks, high pressure fuel pump and coolant loss / expansion tank. Ownership risk: moderate.
