M Buyers Guide is an independent research guide for used BMW M and M Performance cars. Scores, reliability ratings, and ownership cost figures are editorial opinions built from a transparent methodology, public data, and enthusiast knowledge. They are provided for information, not as professional advice.

A score reflects our published method applied to a car or a specific spec. It is not a promise about any individual car's condition, value, or future. Two cars with the same score can be in very different mechanical shape. Reliability ratings describe known patterns for an engine family, not a prediction about any single vehicle.

The full report is the one thing on this site that costs money: $49 for one car, $99 for three reports used within 90 days, or $149 for a 30-day pass. Each is a one-time charge that never renews.

It is offered only for a car the report can price against at least 5 comparable cars for sale that day, and the free report says what the full report holds for that car before you buy.

All sales are final. The report opens in full the moment it is bought, so there are no refunds.

The full report is a guide to one car, from our sourced research and the listings found that day. It is not a guarantee, an appraisal or an inspection: its prices are asking prices, not sale prices, and the car should be inspected before you pay. Payments are taken by Stripe; this site never sees or keeps your card number.

Never buy a used performance car on a score alone. Get a pre-purchase inspection from a qualified independent shop, verify the title and history, and confirm recall completion with a dealer. Nothing on this site replaces that.

Ownership cost figures are labeled estimates and will differ from your real costs. Listings shown are representative examples with a stated review date, not a live feed. Recall, complaint, safety, and fuel economy data comes from NHTSA and the EPA and is presented as received; those agencies own the accuracy of their data.
